Former Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Chuyka drone detectors developed by BlueBird Tech should become a widely used safety tool for residents of frontline regions.
He made the statement during an interview with volunteer Serhii Sternenko, in which he discussed a new vision for protecting Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks.
According to Fedorov, improving Ukrainians’ situational awareness should be a key priority. This involves not only building shelters and protective infrastructure but also enabling people to receive advance warnings about threats posed by attack drones.
“Everyone should have Chuyka drone detectors. Whether people are riding a minibus or children are walking to school, everyone should be aware of any immediate threat. I saw this with my own eyes in the Kharkiv region,” Mykhailo Fedorov recalled.
He stressed that residents of frontline communities should receive information about threats virtually in real time. In particular, Ukrainians should be able to see when an FPV drone or attack UAV is detected in their area or when there is a threat of guided aerial bomb strikes.
Today, drone detectors are no longer used exclusively by the military. They are also used by emergency responders, journalists, volunteers, local authorities, and critical infrastructure operators.
During operation, the detector scans a wide range of frequencies used by enemy drones. When a drone signal appears, Chuyka provides the user with an advance warning through audible and visual alerts. The device also displays footage from the enemy drone’s camera on the screen.
The BlueBird Tech detector can detect drone activity up to 4 kilometers away.
