Our Company Held 200 Drone Detector Training Sessions for Journalists at Donbas Media Forum 2026
Ukrainian technology company BlueBird Tech became the general partner of Donbas Media Forum 2026, which brought together nearly 1,400 participants in Kyiv. The BlueBird Tech team conducted practical training sessions on using the “Chuyka 3.0” drone detector and joined discussions on journalists’ safety and responsible reporting on defence technologies.
Participants discussed the work of the media during wartime, the impact of geopolitical changes and artificial intelligence, the protection of human rights, and the preservation of audience trust.
One of the Forum’s practical areas focused on training participants to use the “Chuyka 3.0” drone detector developed by BlueBird Tech. Over the three days of the event, 200 practical training sessions were held, attended by more than 500 participants.
Journalists learned how to install the antennas correctly, use the detector’s different operating modes, and respond when a signal is detected. These skills are particularly important for media professionals working near the front line and regularly travelling to frontline communities.
“The ‘Chuyka’ drone detector is not only a means of protecting military personnel. It is also critically important for civilians, including journalists. However, simply having a detector is not enough — it is essential to know how to use it correctly. This determines how quickly a person can detect a threat and respond to it. That is why the BlueBird Tech team conducts training sessions and teaches people how to use electronic reconnaissance equipment correctly,” said Borys Budeianskyi, Product Director at BlueBird Tech.
In addition to conducting the training sessions, company representatives took part in DMF panel discussions. Borys Budeianskyi joined discussions on the topics “Kill Zone: How Technological Warfare Is Changing Journalists’ Work” and “How to Report Responsibly on Defence Technologies.”
Participants discussed the risks journalists face while working in combat zones and the importance of using protective equipment. Such solutions include “Chuyka” drone detectors and “Chipa” net launchers.
Particular attention was paid to communication between defence companies and the media. During wartime, publishing technical details or sensitive information about defence technologies can create risks for both military personnel and civilians.
“It is important for more people to learn about Ukrainian technologies. At the same time, effective communication between defence companies and the media is essential, as incorrectly presented or excessive information can lead to tragic consequences. We all understand that the enemy monitors Ukraine’s information space, so we must act together and responsibly,” emphasised Borys Budeianskyi.
Following Donbas Media Forum 2026, BlueBird Tech will strengthen its communication with the journalistic community and continue providing training on the use of the company’s products, including the “Chuyka” drone detector and the “Chipa” net launcher. The goal is to help media professionals prepare more effectively for working in dangerous conditions.
