Frequently asked questions

I connected the cables in the wrong order. Could I have damaged the EW system?

Yes. For the 5UL, 5ML, 4M, and 4MO models, connecting the antenna cables in the wrong order may damage the RF modules. For other models, the connection order is not critical.

I turned on the "Grets" system, but I'm not sure it's working. How can I check?

Check the device’s power consumption. For accurate verification, use a spectrum analyzer.

There is no indicator light after turning the system on. What does this mean?

If the device is receiving power, the indicator light should turn on. If there is no indication, check the power supply. If the power supply is functioning properly, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Can I power on the EW system without connected antennas?

No. Never power on the EW system without the antennas connected.

What happens if I connect the antennas incorrectly or place them in the wrong positions?

If an antenna’s operating frequency does not match the corresponding RF module’s operating frequency, the module may fail. Always connect the antennas according to the user manual.

Can I operate the EW system if one antenna cable is disconnected?

You can turn on the device, but you must not use a channel whose antenna is disconnected.

Can the EW system fail to suppress a drone flying very low?

It depends on the flight altitude and surrounding conditions. Under suitable conditions, BlueBird Tech EW systems can suppress targets flying as low as 2 meters above the ground.

If the drone approaches from another direction, do I need to rotate the antennas?

No. BlueBird Tech EW systems use omnidirectional antennas.

How do I know that the jamming zone has been established?

If the device is operating properly and all connections are correct, the jamming zone has been established. It can also be verified using a spectrum analyzer.

Why does the effectiveness of the EW system vary in different locations?

Performance is affected by terrain, weather, obstacles, device placement, and environmental conditions.

Do trees, buildings, terrain, or vegetation affect EW performance?

Yes. Such obstacles can interfere with signal propagation and reduce effectiveness.

Will the EW system perform worse if it is installed too low?

Yes. Performance depends on the line of sight and the specific EW model. If the device is placed in a depression, only the AntiDrop system is designed to operate effectively under such conditions.

An antenna was bent during transportation. Can I still use it?

It is not recommended. If the damage has changed the VSWR or broken the cable, the RF module may fail. Replace the antenna.

The antenna mount broke. Can I temporarily secure it myself?

Yes, provided the antenna itself is undamaged. Secure it firmly without putting stress on the cable.

The antenna cable is worn or kinked. Can I still power on the system?

No. Operating the system with a damaged antenna cable is unsafe. Replace the cable or contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

The antennas are installed very close to each other. Can this affect operation?

Yes. It may alter the radiation pattern and damage the RF modules. Install antenna modules only as specified in the user manual.

Can I cover the antennas with camouflage netting?

Yes, but only if the netting is made of RF-transparent material.

The EW system turned off by itself during operation. What should I check?

First, check the power supply. If power is normal, allow the device to cool down. If it still does not turn on after cooling, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Can I switch the power source without turning off the EW system?

No. Doing so may permanently damage the device. Always turn off the EW system before switching the power source.

Can I leave the EW system running overnight?

It depends on the weather conditions, but it is not recommended. In hot weather, the device may overheat during prolonged operation.

The EW system has become very hot. When is this normal, and when should I turn it off?

The normal operating temperature for BlueBird Tech devices is approximately 70–80°C (158–176°F). Overheating should be avoided. If the device operates unstably or overheats excessively, turn it off and allow it to cool.

Can I place the EW system in direct sunlight?

It is not recommended, as the device may overheat. The exception is when mounted on a moving vehicle, where airflow provides cooling.

If the vehicle engine is turned off while the EW system remains connected, can it drain the battery?

Yes. The vehicle battery may discharge quickly depending on the EW system’s power consumption and the battery capacity.

The EW system was exposed to heavy rain. What should I do?

Turn the device off, dry it completely, and check whether water has entered the enclosure. Only power it on after it is completely dry. If you suspect water has entered the device, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Can I leave the EW system on a vehicle roof in rain or snow?

No. Before using it again, ensure the device is completely dry. If water may have entered the enclosure, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Sand or dust entered the system. Can I blow it out myself?

You may carefully blow dust off the exterior. Do not disassemble the enclosure. We recommend contacting BlueBird Tech Service Support.

The EW system was covered in mud. How should I clean it safely?

Wipe the enclosure with a damp cloth that is not dripping wet. Do not wash the device with water. Moisture can cause oxidation, corrosion, and permanent damage. If water may have entered the enclosure, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Can I wash the enclosure with water after field use?

No. Only wipe the exterior with a damp, non-dripping cloth. Moisture can cause oxidation, corrosion, and device failure. If you suspect water intrusion, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Condensation formed after exposure to freezing temperatures. Can I turn the system on immediately?

No. Allow the device to dry completely and ensure all condensation has disappeared before powering it on. Moisture can cause oxidation, corrosion, and device failure. If water may have entered the enclosure, contact BlueBird Tech Service Support.

Can I store the EW system in an unheated shelter or bunker?
